Say hello to the newest Marvel hero.
We live in a cinematic world where characters swing around on webs, and fly around in metal suits, and shrink down to the size of atoms, and turn into gigantic, green rage monsters. You can add a sorcerer supreme to those ranks. And one day they’ll all be hanging out together fighting evil.
DOCTOR STRANGE is the latest Marvel property to get its own film and by the first looks of it, it won’t disappoint.
Definitely a cool first look. You get a sense of the universe they’re unveiling for us, and it’s much more psychedelic than any previous Marvel film. Last year’s ANT-MAN touched a bit on expanding the realms that these characters are in touch with, but DOCTOR STRANGE looks to blow those doors right off.
Benedict Cumberbatch plays Dr. Stephen Strange, a renowned hand surgeon that gets into a car accident, crippling his hands and his ability to operate. He then goes to Tibet and meets the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who teaches him the ways of the mystic arts. In the comics, Strange is a pretty big d-bag, but then kind of mellows out after he gets injured. Pays to be rude, I guess.
As usual, Marvel is roping in the big names. In addition to Cumberbatch and Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Scott Adkins are all strapped in and ready to blast off into whatever wacky existence DOCTOR STRANGE will take us to.
DOCTOR STRANGE is coming November 4, 2016.
