'Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth' may be getting a loose adaptation.
What we do know is that there's a new BATMAN film in the pipeline and it's being directed by Academy Award winning Ben Affleck. What we don't know is what's going to happen during the moving, though we may have been granted a clue today when Batman on Film released a rumor that the Dark Knight will be battling his foes in the infamous lockup where most of his foes one way or another set up residency.
There were rumblings that Batman would be battling a lot of of baddies from his rogue gallery, so if Arkham Asylum ends up being true, that would answer the question about how to possibly wrangle that many enemies in one place. Arkham has a longstanding history with Bats, and it would make a fantastic venue for Affleck's vision if the rumor does stand up.
Most famously, Arkham was illustrated through the graphic novel mentioned in the sub-header. It was created in 1989 by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean, and if you haven't yet already read it, you should pick up a copy. Most recently, 'Batman: Arkham Asylum' was the first in a series of video games (Arkham City, Arkham Knight, and Arkham Origins, kinda) that reinvigorated the character. And it's fantastic as well.
It's still unknown just how long Affleck's film will take place inside the walls of the asylum, or if the rumor is even true, but it would be a terrific way to showcase Batman in confined action, especially given that this aspect was one of the few highlights of BATMAN V SUPERMAN.
