The best superhero film ever made.
Back in 1999, Brad Bird made the sensational THE IRON GIANT. Largely overshadowed by more blustery films like THE MATRIX, and THE PHANTOM MENACE, GIANT didn't get a long showing in the theatres, and frankly, that's a damn shame.
GIANT tells the story of a young boy who discovers a mammoth, metallic alien that lives in a junk yard, eating scraps. The two become fast friends. That's the bare-bones synopsis, but the film is much more than that. Let's just say that this post's tagline isn't hyperbole. It really is the best adaptation of a superhero film, live-action or animated. Vin Diesel voices the Giant.
Now, nearly two-decades later, the powers that be have decided that an art book littered with scenes from the film, as well as concept will be released in August of this year. Entitled, Art of The Iron Giant, it will be a must-have for lovers of the film, or just film in general really.
