Daniel Craig reportedly turned down 100 million to reprise the role.
With reports that Daniel Craig has grown steadily unhappy with his future as the numbered British spy, a new name has entered to take over. According to Birth.Movies.Death, Tom Hiddleston is in talks to portray James Bond in the next film, the 25th in the iconic franchise.
Hiddleston’s a talented guy. He’s best known as Loki, the antagonist in three Marvel films (and an upcoming one in THOR: RAGNAROK), but he’s also shown his chops in a variety of other genres in the form of MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, THE DEEP BLUE SEA, and ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, among many others.
Hiddleston is certainly debonair enough to play Bond (just look at those sexy Jaguar commercials), but I’m, at the very least, hesitant at this news. Say what you will about Craig’s run of four films, but he without question injected some much needed adrenaline into a stale and trite series. I’d love for him to have a swan song with much more critical fanfare than SPECTRE brought him. Whatever the decision, hopefully Eon and the Broccoli family will push a continued promise of innovation and excitement.
